Hannah Anderson's Headshot Session

These are a couple of the photographs that were recently taken on Hannah Anderson's headshot photo shoot.

Hannah came along to the shoot with tons of enthusiasm which helped with getting a wide selection of shots for her to choose from. In fact too many in the end, she said!.... In the past though she had never had enough to choose from and wanted some photos that looked more like her. We shot a selection of photos first with her hair down and then with her hair up. I never shoot the other way around like some photographers do as it might save you the photographer time as your not waiting around as long during hair style changes but the actress's hair never looks as good when it is let down again.

Publicity Photos For Production Of "Reality Chokes

Below are some of the photos that were taken for the punk play "Reality Chokes" which is on at the Edinburgh Fringe. The play is written by Al Gregg and David Schaal and is a black comedy about lost love, thwarted ambition and mid-life crisis. It is a poignant and funny look at what happens when unresolved conflicts resurface in men who refuse to grow up.

The play was successfully premiered last year at Pentameters Theatre in Hampstead, London where I originally photographed it. At the time it was directed by television and theatre director, Chris Jury. This time around David Schaal who had been acting in it has stepped down to direct the play and has largely recast it for Edinburgh due to availability of the existing cast, with only Al Greg remaining from the original cast. The new cast includes, Al Gregg (Dan), David Marx (John), Cathy MacManamon (Chrissie), Lloyd Morris (Plod), Christopher Tajah (Steve), Matthew Ward (Rob) and Lizzie Stables (Tricia).

Early Press Photos From Death Of Long Pig

These are some of the photos that were taken for early press and publicity use of 'Death Of Long Pig' by Nigel Planer.

The photographs were taken in a rehearsal room at the Jerwood Space in London a few weeks before the play opened at the Finborough Theatre. At the time no set was available so we had to improvise with the backdrop which was in fact a piece of material that was later used in the production. Full costumes were available though. To make sure the photographs looked real and in the moment, I got the actors to run short scenes from the play and photographed these.

Missing Since Monday

These are some of the rehearsal photographs that were taken of 'Missing Since Monday' a new chamber musical by Harriet Oughton with Fran Morley and the Nuffield Youth Theatre. The photos were taken before the dress rehearsal whilst the cast and director were working on key scenes from the musical.

The production is about Laura Barton, aged just 15, who has gone missing after an argument at a party.

Rumours are flying around about what has happened to her. Nobody knows, but there is no shortage of theories.

Nuffield Youth Theatre spent a term researching real stories of missing teenagers, including Dan Nolan, improvising and devising scenes of their own and developing their singing skills. Another term of work on the completed script and score have stretched those skills further.

The School For Scandal

These are some of the dress rehearsal photographs that were taken of The School for Scandal written by Richard Brinsley Sheridan early this year. Normally I would take photographs of the whole of the cast in full costume running through the entire production. Due do technical difficulties this was not possible. The heating system had broken down earlier in the morning so it meant everything was running behind. In the end I took some photographs of key scenes before the first run at lunch time. I decided to stay and watch the whole production on it's opening performance. This turned out to be well worth while as the play was excellent with a fine cast. Also I had an opportunity to spot other key scenes that I thought would make good photographs. After the play I asked the cast to run some of these scenes again so I could capture their performance. The finished photographs were then sent out to the press for use with reviews and other promotion. These have been used in a lot of online media. The play was put on by Red Handed Theatre Company and directed by Jessica Swale.

He explained and showed how he keeps all his research notes in books (which can be seen in some of the photos) for each character he plays. This includes a brief history of the person. This then allows to refer back to his notes any time he needs to during the rehearsal stage for a play of during the filming of scenes.

David Morrissey has recently appeared in Neil LaBute’s In A Dark Dark House, directed by Michael Attenborough at the Almeida Theatre. His previous theatre credits include Three Days of Rain for the Donmar Warehouse, Much Ado About Nothing at the Queen’s Theatre as well as King John, Richard III and Edward IV all for the RSC and El Cid and Twelfth Night for Cheek by Jowl.
